Problems addressed:
- Unhealthy family lifestyles
- Very high price of bottled gas
- Difficult access to financing for these families
- Non-existent social capital within the community
- Lack of infrastructure

Solutions provided:
- Using the price differential between bottled and network gas to finance the infrastructure
- Mobilizing the community to create a climate of confidence
- The intermediary, the ProVivienda Foundation, becomes the link between the private company, Gaz Natural, and the community
- Once the investment phase is over, access to gas becomes much cheaper
- Partnership with the Inter American Development Bank for the financing
- Special treatment from Gaz Natural for these new customers

Results:
- 4,000 families supplied
- 80% of the community has joined the payment plan
- 30% reduction in respiratory diseases
- 7 years of work bringing together the community, the Foundation and Gaz Natural
- Significant improvement in the quality of life for these families (access to hot water for washing, improved food hygiene)
- 10% increase in the value of homes connected to the gas network

Tomorrow:
- Reach an additional 10,000 to 15,000 families by 2015

- A long-term vision of this market
- Other companies have shown interest in the model with a view to offering other services improving living conditions (drinking water, sewage and sanitation)
